The Mobile Return Of RTX

The Mobile Return Of RTX. Ray Tracing (RTX) is coming to smartphones. Immortalis GPU features to bring PC-quality gaming to phones

Semiconductor manufacturer ARM has launched Immortalis GPUs with hardware-based ray tracing (RTX) technology that will bring PC-like image quality and gaming performance to mobile devices for the first time.

RTX ray tracing technology, a key feature of next-generation desktop GPUs and gaming consoles, is now making its debut in mobile devices. ARM, which powers the infrastructure of major companies with its processor architectures, appears to be breaking new ground in the mobile gaming world.

The company has announced that it will bring ray tracing support to mobile phones for the first time. The new Immortalis GPUs will be used in both high-end and mid-range smartphones.

The semiconductor manufacturer ARM, which NVIDIA, one of the technology giants, has wanted to buy since 2020, but has received reactions from other major companies, the United States and even Elon MUSK, who is on the agenda with his tweets, announced that ARM will launch the first GPU that it calls Immortalis-G715 and will offer this feature on smartphones and tablets.

The Mobile Return Of RTX

The Mobile Return Of RTX is gonna be awesome. RTX (ray tracing) technology is currently active in computers and the new gaming market such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. This technology has also become active in Android phones and tablets with the new GPU from ARM.

It is claimed that the Immortalis-G715, which is based on the Mali GPU used by giants such as MediaTek and Samsung, will perform 15% better than the old generation Mali GPUs.

For ray tracing technology to be applicable to RTX phones, it needs to work with powerful and good hardware.

However, ARM claims that the new GPU does not require high performance hardware. ARM also stated that RTX will use only 4% of the core capacity of the Immortalis-G715 and will increase its performance by more than 300%.

In addition to the Immortalis-G715, two new GPUs will be released. The biggest difference between these GPUs, which were introduced as Mali-G715 and Mali-G615, was the difference in the number of cores.

While G615 will have 6 or fewer cores, Mali-G715 will have between 7 and 9 cores. The Immoralis-G715 will have 10 or more cores. However, we don’t have as much information on these two GPUs as we do on the Immoralis GPU.

All three GPUs support Variable Rate Shading (VRS). VRS is a system that allows game developers to determine where the GPU should focus and where it can take shortcuts. With the right settings, the game looks the same to the player.

However, this technology maximises the frame rate by up to 40%. VRS is also on the agenda to significantly reduce power consumption on smartphones.

Will  The Three GPUs Be The Fastest GPUs Ever?

All three GPUs introduced by ARM have delivered up to 15% performance improvements in devices. They are the fastest ARM GPUs to date.

The company has also made several changes to the GPUs, including ARM Constant Rate Compression (AFRC), which increases efficiency by up to 3x and reduces bandwidth usage.

There is uncertainty about the official release date of the new Immoralis GPU and Mali GPUs, and it is not clear which smartphone company will use this technology first. However, ARM is likely to make this technology available in early 2024 ….
