Formulas for Time Travel .  Is it possible to travel through time? Actually, we can divide this question into two parts. The first question is, is it possible to travel into the future? The second question is, is it possible to travel to the past?

For example, let’s imagine a train that can travel around the world at the speed of light. In the year 2030, a 20-year-old person travels on this train for five years. This person will be 25 years old when he gets off the train. However, the world is no longer 2035, but 2070. Since time is shorter than the person on the train, he will have travelled 40 years later. In other words, in this example, the person on the train is still young, even though the people outside the train are getting older. Of course, it is also possible for astronauts to travel to more distant futures by travelling at higher speeds in space.


Of course, speed is not the only thing that makes time flow. Gravity also bends space-time and differentiates the flow of time. As gravity increases, time begins to slow down. According to satellites orbiting in space, this is exactly why people travel to the future.

Gravity and the force of gravity are much stronger on the surface of the Earth than in space. This is why time passes more slowly on Earth than in space. Because the mass of the Earth is not extremely large, this slowing down can only be detected by very sensitive clocks, such as atomic clocks. In this case, time travel into the future is made, but it is not satisfactory, i.e. it is not felt.

However, if you can go to places in space where the gravity is high, such as neutron stars or black holes, you can feel time slowing down noticeably. Of course, we make assumptions like going that far and getting rid of black holes. Well, is it possible to travel to the past? Unfortunately, the answer to this question is not as clear-cut as the first one. Albert Einstein’s equations in general relativity have solutions that allow us to travel back in time. However, how the conditions that allow these solutions to be implemented physically are put into practice is a matter of debate. The first condition is to travel faster than the speed of light.

The reason given was the danger of unintended wormholes forming and pulling space into them. This is all theory, of course. Another theory that could make travelling to the past possible is the Tipler Cylinder Theory, proposed by the physicist Frank Tipler.

According to Frank Tipler’s calculations, if there is a long, thin cylinder ten times the size of the sun, and if this cylinder can be accelerated to a speed of several billion revolutions per minute, a time machine will be invented. It’s a crazy idea.

A vehicle travelling on a spiral path around this disc would travel into the past or the future, depending on the direction it was travelling. The cylinder Tipler used in his calculations is infinitely long. However, according to him, a very long and slightly faster rotating cylinder would also allow time travel.
