Journeys that might take days or weeks by road or sea can be completed in a short time thanks to airplanes. With this supersonic aircraft, that time seems to be a little shorter.

The company Boom Overture has unveiled the prototype of the newly produced passenger plane. The plane will be able to reach speeds of over 2000 kilometres per hour.

In other words, this model will be able to cross the Atlantic in just 3.5 hours. Overture, which heralds a new era in passenger aircraft, will enter service in 2029.

Overture has four very powerful engines mounted on its wings, allowing the aircraft to fly at 2,092 kilometres per hour over water and just under 1,239 kilometres per hour on land. This quad-engine design is said to reduce noise decibels, while cutting costs and performance.

Boom said Overture will be able to fly at an altitude of 60,000 feet. Overture can carry between 65 and 80 passengers.

The company also announced that the world’s first noise reduction system will be integrated into these high-speed aircraft. As a result, Overture will be able to fly at the same noise level as aircraft flying at less than 800 miles per hour.

The aircraft’s fuselage is designed to be as harmonious as possible to contribute to its performance. The rear of the aircraft, which has a pointed nose similar to the front of the Concord, tapers.

This minimises the damage caused by wind friction, and the aircraft’s wings are designed to provide the best possible balance at both high and low speeds.

In addition, the Overture aircraft will be made of carbon, which is lighter, stronger and more thermally stable than traditional metals. In addition, SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) will be used to fuel the aircraft, which has been designed with sustainability in mind.

The Overture model is expected to go into production in 2025 and to be airborne in 2026. By 2029, when testing is complete, it should be carrying passengers at supersonic speeds.

The last Concorde passenger plane to exceed 2,000 km per hour entered service in 1976, but with the tragic accident in 2000, it said goodbye to the skies in 2003.
