According to the Organisation for Economic Development (OECDY), Lithuania, Russia and Austria are the countries that consume the most alcoholic beverages. The ranking of the countries consuming the most alcohol in the world is as follows;

  • Lithuania; the annual consumption per capita is 12.3 litres.
  • Immediately behind it is Austria with an annual per capita consumption of 11.8 litres.
  • Then in the 3rd place is France with 11.7 litres per year.
  • After France, the Czech Republic (11.6 litres),
  • Luxembourg (11.3 litres), Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Germany and Portugal follow respectively. When analysed, it is seen that almost all European countries are prone to alcohol use.

It is also reflected in the statistics that the annual rate of alcohol use does not fall below 10 litres per person. But let’s also say that in recent years, the rate of alcohol use in Russia has decreased. It started to decrease with the efforts of the head of state Vladimir PUTIN. Putin also declared that alcohol is their enemy and that they will reduce it as soon as possible.

Let’s take a look at the rate of alcohol use in the world and in our country. As we have explained above, alcohol use is decreasing towards the south due to people’s beliefs and customs.

The countries with the lowest alcohol use in the world can be listed as follows.
According to official figures, the annual consumption of alcoholic beverages is only 0.3 litres per capita. Indonesia is followed by Turkey with an annual consumption of 1.4 litres per capita. After our country, there are Israel and Costa Rica.
