Since its foundation, the United States of America has faced assassinations of presidents from time to time. For what purpose and by whom these assassination attempts were organised. We tried to compile them in our article below.

Let’s go back to the founding of the United States of America and take a look at the stories of the assassinated Presidents from those years to today.

First US President to be assassinated Abraham LINCOLN (1861-1865)

16th President of the United States of America. He was born on 12 February 1809 in Kentucky, USA. He especially stood out with his ideas against slavery. Worried that slavery would be abolished during his presidency, the southern states of the USA declared their independence when Abraham Lincoln won the civil war. Of course, when Lincoln did not accept this, he suppressed the civil war and abolished the slavery order in 1863.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Abraham Lincoln, was an actor who was an extreme supporter of the southern states. He was determined to kill Lincoln. At first, he was not going to kill Abraham Lincoln, but to kidnap him to the Confederate prison and negotiate. But when Lincoln made his statement for the freedom of blacks, he decided to kill him directly.

On the day of his assassination, Abraham Lincoln decided to watch a play with his family at Ford’s Theatre. John Wilkes Booth also organised men to help him kill the vice-president and the secretary of state on the same day. While Abraham Lincoln was watching the play, John Wilkes Booth, waiting for the sound of laughter, fired his gun right at Lincoln’s head. After shooting, he managed to escape from there.      About 2 weeks later, he was found and executed by federal agents.

Lincoln is still regarded as one of the greatest presidents of the United States and his picture appears on the $5 bill and 1 cent coins.

James GARFIELD (1881)

20th President of the United States of America

He was born 19 November 1831 in Ohio. His childhood and school years were spent in hardship and poverty.

In 1862, he fought on the side of President Lincoln. He was promoted to brigadier general for his achievements. He later became Chief of the General Staff and vice-president under Lincoln. Finally, in 1881, he was inaugurated as the 20th President of the United States.

Charles Guiteau assassinated the President for ambition for office.  Preparing to board the train from Washington, the President was assassinated by being shot twice, once in the arm and once in the back, before he even realised that Garfield Guiteau was approaching him.

Interestingly, the bullet wounds were not serious. However, when Willard Bliss, the doctor who first intervened, intervened in the wound without washing his hands, the other doctor tried to prevent this and damaged the president’s liver. The President died due to infection.

On 19 May 1890, his body was buried in Lake Wiew cemetery.

William McKinley (1897-1901)

25th President of the United States of America.

Born in 1843 in the state of Ohio, he joined the army in 1861 and participated in the Civil War. When the war ended in 1865, he turned to the field of law. With his rising graph, he was given a seat in Congress by President Heyes in 1871. In 1884 he was elected a delegate to the Republican Congress.

He was sworn in as president on 4 March 1897. McKinley liked to be in public. However, his friends expressed their concern, recalling the recent assassination of King Umberton I of Italy.

A man named Leon Czolgosz, who intended to kill McKinley, who was attending the fair, approached him, but was too nervous to shoot. His next visit was to the Temple of Music. Leon Czolgosz concealed his gun in a handkerchief. After getting close to the president, he fired two shots in the stomach.

He wouldn’t be the last US President to be assassinated. McKinley died on 14 September 1901. Leon Czolgosz was executed on 29 October 1901.

Theodore Roosevelt succeeded him as president. We continue our series on assassinated US presidents. Kennedy is next in the series of assassinated US presidents.

Last US President to be assassinated F. Kennedy (1961-1963)

He was born on 29 May 1917 in the state of Massachusetts. He was the youngest elected president in the history of the United States of America. He is also the only president to have won the Pulitzer Prize. Kennedy, who is also known for being the first Catholic president in US history, is also known as the president of firsts.

In 1940 he graduated from Harvard University and in 1941 he entered the US Navy. In 1941, he joined the US Navy. In World War II, he was seriously wounded in the military unit he served in, but he survived. In 1952, he served as a senator.

Finally, in 1961, he became the 35th President of the United States. His first act was to land at the Bay of Pigs in an attempt to conquer Cuba, but it failed and he had to take responsibility for the deaths of thousands of soldiers.

John F. Kennedy was assassinated on 22 November 1963 while he and his wife were greeting the public in an open car in downtown Dallas, where he had come to end the conflict of opinion between liberals and conservatives in the state of Texas.

Kennedy, who was shot both in the throat and head, was taken to Parkland Hospital but could not be saved. Kennedy, who died when he was only 46 years old, went down in history as the youngest among all US presidents.

Texas Governor John CONNALY, who was in the same car with him, survived despite being seriously wounded. Vice-President Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as his successor.

Lee Oswald was considered the perpetrator of the assassination, but he denied the attack and claimed to be the victim. Later examinations showed that the suspicions were correct, that is, shots were fired from other areas. Oswald was killed by Jack RUBY and the Kennedy assassination was covered with a smokescreen.

Donald TRUMP (1946 –     )

The 45th President of the United States of America. He will serve as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. He was born in New York, the fourth child in his family. After completing his primary and secondary education, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1977 he married the Czech model Ivana Zelníčková. From this marriage he had 3 children. He ended the marriage in 1990. In 1993 he married Marla Maples again. This marriage ended in 1999 with 1 child. Finally, in 2005, he married Melania.

He states that he has avoided alcohol and cigarettes throughout his life. He states that 4-5 hours of sleep a day is enough for him. He entered political life in 1987. He chose the Republican Party. In 1999 he became a member of the Independence Party. In 2001 he changed his mind and became a Democrat. In his last decision, in 2012, he switched back to the Republican side. Finally, in 2015, he announced his candidacy for the presidency. Although he was not taken seriously, he rose to a leading position in the opinion polls. In 2016, the Republicans presented him as their candidate. Although he received fewer popular votes in the election, he was elected president in 2016 due to the large number of states he won.

Trump, who remained president until 2021, lost the presidency to Biden, although he was a candidate in the next election. He entered the race again in 2024. During a campaign speech in Pennsylvania, he almost fell victim to an assassin who fired from about 150 metres away, but the bullet grazed his head and injured his ear. However, a supporter listening to him at the back died. He was the first president to be assassinated since Ronald Reagan. The FBI said in a statement that the assailant’s name was Thomas Matthew Crooks.

The current population of the world offers us a solution to this question. If the first human being, Hz Adam (as), was created fifteen thousand years ago, and if it is accepted that the average life span throughout history has always been 80 years, the number of people in the world today should be 1 trillion or a little more.

According to current theoretical knowledge, the history of humanity, which is said to be hundreds of thousands of years, should be 15,000 years or less than 15,000 years.

What Was The Lifespan Of The First Humans In Human History?

Although this is not enough, if we accept that the people who lived in the beginning were long-lived in the range of 600-1000 years, working backwards, it is calculated that the world population at the time of Jesus (pbuh) was 250 million or less (Miller, C. Tyler. “Living In the Environment” California U.S.A. 1975).

It is accepted that deaths from epidemics such as major plagues and major wars affect only about one and a half per cent of the world’s population. When these are taken into account, the claim that the human lifespan is hundreds of thousands of years becomes untenable.

Even if we accept only the population growth rate as a criterion, it is clear that the lifespan of humanity will not exceed 10,000 years.

Radiocarbon Dating In Determining The History Of Mankind

The radiocarbon dating method used today is an inadequate method. In fact, there is a timeline predicted by the Qur’an and the Hadith.

In fact, the correct results of science and the facts of the Qur’an have always been in harmony and have never contradicted each other, when the matter is approached objectively.

This is because the universe and the Qur’an are two separate Books of Allah. As long as we understand both books correctly and know how to interpret them.

Sometimes the expected inaccuracies are due to the inadequacy of the interpreters.

Hadiths Related To The History Of Mankind

Our Prophet (sall-Allâhu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said, “I came in the afternoon of mankind. In another hadith, he said, “The lifespan of my Ummah will not exceed 1500 years.

The time from afternoon to evening, which is a quarter or a fifth of the day, is 1500 years. Thus, the lifespan of humanity is between 6000 and 8000 years.

In another well-known hadith, it is said: “The lifespan of mankind from Adam to the Day of Judgement is seven thousand years”.

As can be seen, these two hadiths confirm and complement each other (see Kenzu al-Ummal, h. no. 16459; Tezkirat al-Mawduat, I/223; Sahawi, al-Maqasid al-hasana, I/693, h. no. 1243; Munawi Feyzu al-Qadir, III/547, h. no. 4278 (quoted in al-Daylemi)

Allah knows best.

However, the commentaries on these hadiths are only interpretations. For what is the meaning of the expression “years” in the narration that the lifespan of mankind is 7000 years?

There are other and different interpretations. It should not be forgotten that there may be other deeper meanings and they may add another dimension of meaning to the explanation.

Considering that the speed of the earth’s rotation on its axis and the speed of its movement around the sun may be different from ancient times to the present, and considering that time may also change depending on the speed, it is obvious that time passed faster in ancient times, if only the life spans of large plants and animals in ancient times are compared with those of the present.

Pompeii! The Destroyed Tribe. Pompeii It is an ancient city in Italy, very close to the city of Naples.

On that historical day, all hell broke loose in this city, which continued its life in pleasure. Vesuvius volcano started to move and started to scatter its angry lava around. The time of this city, which was about 30 kilometres close to Naples, was over. Some people tried to escape to their homes, others ran towards the sea. All their efforts were in vain.

All the people died under the volcanic ash. What remained was a ghost town and an ancient city with petrified human bodies. When the lava, ashes and clay from the mud rained down on the city of Pompeii, the people were petrified in their astonishment and remained in the form of statues.

This should be an indication that Allah shows us what the end of sins is for the people. People of Pompeii did not anticipate Mount Vesuvius The inhabitants . The city of Pompeii did not know that Vesuvius was a volcano that had not stirred for thousands of years. Everyone was used to the occasional small earthquakes. Perhaps for this reason, no one cared about the earthquakes before the eruption of the volcano.

According to estimates, the cityspeople were not destroyed by the erupting lava. The reason that turned the city of Pompeii into ruins could have been the poisonous gas emitted by the explosion and the ashes falling from the sky. For this reason, neither the people who took shelter in their homes nor those who ran to the harbour and went to the sea survived this disaster.

According to estimates, the volcanic movement, which continued for 2 days, buried the city of Pompeii, which was built on the outskirts, 6 metres underground.

In What Form Were The People Of Pompeii Found Under The Ground?

When the people of the city of Pompeii were removed from the ground in an intact state in the form of stone during historical excavations, they were found in the state of what they were busy with at the time of their death.

Some of them sat helplessly in front of the lava with their heads in their hands, some in the brothels of the city, and some under the lava with their children.

The petrified human bodies found during the excavations could not be explained by anyone. Because the petrified people found were frozen in whatever they were doing at that moment. A family eating a meal, a mother hugging her child….

There is no verse in the Qur’an that mentions the people of Pompeii by naming a place or tribe.
However, in many verses, the disasters that befell many tribes in various cities are mentioned, some of them by giving names, and these verses seem to mention the city of Pompeii, which we see even today.

Surely Allah knows the truth. Pompeii and its destruction is expressed in the Quran as follows.

There was only a noise and they fell silent (Surah Yasin 29).

Kadesh war and Kadesh peace treaty. The first peace treaty in world history, the Kadesh peace treaty. It was made between the Hittites and Egyptians, the two great powers of the 1200s BC.

The Egyptian king Ramses II was only 14 years old when he took the throne. The Hittite kingdom attacked the northern border of the Egyptian kingdom in order to take advantage of the youth and inexperience of Ramses II. He captured Kadesh, an important trade city within the borders of Syria today.

Although King Ramses II led his army on an offensive to recapture Kadesh from the Hittites, he was misled by Hittite spies into believing that the Hittite army was far away from the Egyptian troops’ settlement.

With this work of the spies, the Hittite troops lying in ambush nearby attacked. When the support of the Egyptian Kingdom arrived, the Egyptians were about to be defeated. King Ramses II won the battle at that moment, but was defeated in the war.

Battle of Kadesh and Its Course

The city of Kadesh is located in the district of Homs in western Syria. By the end of 1200 BC, it was ruled by the Hittites.

Ramses II took control of the city of Kadesh in order to eliminate the threat of the Hittite kingdom to the north and to regain the lands that had been lost since they had once been captured by Thutmose III.

At the battle of Kadesh, around 3,000 chariots of the Hittite army and around 37,000 foot soldiers clashed with the weaker and outnumbered Egyptian troops.
In the course of the war, the Egyptian army suffered heavy losses in terms of infantry, while the Hittite army suffered many chariot casualties. As the Egyptian army retreated, the Hittites could not follow the Egyptians because they did not have chariots.

As a result of the war, the Hittites increased their dominance in the region by keeping the Amurru lands in their hands, while Ramses II decided to stop the expansion policy for a while. Although the documents in the Egyptian royal records and the reliefs carved in Karnak, Luxor and Abu Simbel indicate that King Ramses II inflicted a heavy defeat on the Hittite army, it is clear that there was no clear winner of the war.

Treaty of Kadesh

Ramses II was as skilful in public relations as he was in the art of war. However, historians now know that the Battle of Kadesh was not an outright victory over the Hittites, but a clear draw.

After years of negotiations, King Ramses II agreed to sign a peace treaty with the Hittites. The text of this treaty is the oldest surviving peace treaty.

Later, King Ramses II married a Hittite princess in 1245 BC in order to consolidate the treaty.
In the treaty, both sides also agreed to return prisoners and to help each other in case of attack by any enemy, internal or external.

The treaty is inscribed in hieroglyphics on a stele in the temple of Karnak. The copy written in Akkadian on a clay tablet was found in 1906 in Boğazköy, Çorum.

Texts of the Treaty

There are three copies of the treaty. The copy is written in Akkadian language.

In 1906, one of the copies found in the capital Boğazköy-Büyükkale during the excavations carried out in 1906 is in Berlin and the other two are on display in the Istanbul Archaeological Museums.
Egyptian copies of the treaty are engraved on the walls of the temples of Amon in Karnak and Ramesseum.

The Egyptian king continues with the following words:
